Flight Connector

A professional networking toolto connect researchers across interests & knowledge
Potential collaborators are often hiding in plain sight. Maybe someone with expertise in the research technique, super-specific content area, or equipment you need is right at Vanderbilt, just in another department and out of your regular view.

We built Flight Connector to solve this problem and connect researchers across interests and knowledge rather than just affiliations and disciplines. Flight Connector builds an interactive concept map to navigate who works with cognitive assessment, big data, cellular signaling, fMRI imaging, and over 200 other research areas and methods.

A four-question REDCap survey gets you into the Vanderbilt Flight Connector (Vanderbilt user-id required).

Click here to add your data to Vanderbilt Flight Connector

You’ll see a long list of potential research content areas and methods; pick the ones you know to start connecting across the university and medical center. You can also interact with the social network itself before taking the plunge.

mentor notes

Flight Connector is a novel tool for faculty and scholars to find new research collaborations.

It can be used to enhance networking breaks at your Vanderbilt events.

Don't miss your connection

If you would like to use Flight Connector for a smaller group within Vanderbilt, email scott.j.pearson@vumc.org. You don’t need to use our categories; you can create your own if desired. Your results are automatically included in a live concept map.

If you’re at another institution but interested in using this software, hang tight: We plan to expand soon.
