Can you use a $5,000 scholarship to partner with a community organization and perform a research program? The Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core is looking for you.
The Community Scholars Program will provide funds for travel, books, and other education resources while you work with a community organization, as well as a small amount of pilot funding for research. At the end of the program, you’ll be able to:
- Develop an understanding of community health determinants through participation in organized service to meet the needs of communities,
- Apply the principles of community-engaged research through participation in collaborative research,
- Demonstrate the methods or results of service learning through participation as a co-facilitator or co-preceptor of courses, field practica, or continuing education workshops, or presentation of research findings at local or national meetings.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Meharry Medical College or Vanderbilt University.
- Be enrolled at Meharry Medical College or Vanderbilt University
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree or (international equivalent) required
- An updated curriculum vitae
- Able to provide a 1-2 page research statement
- Able to provide two letters of recommendation (one from your mentor)
A letter of intent is due to Lexie Lipham by March 10, 2017. The full application is due April 7.
